Smooth Sailing

Hey everyone.. wow yet again I have neglected my blog lol. Unfortunately, I won't be back into the regular swing of blogging for some time still. I just happened to have some time to write today. I've been busy with miss 4 year old and miss 2 (almost 3 and it breaks my heart) year old.. and redoing my craft room.. again!

Adam just finished making my desk a few months ago and stuff was going good... (the room wasn't complete yet) until I found a deal on craigslist and HAD to have it. So I got a super deal on white cube storage (about $4 per cube). I asked Adam to redo my room/ his office .. even though just months ago he said "are you sure this is how you want it? Because once it's done.. its done! And I will not be re doing anything you decide later you don't like"... well I asked anyway and he decided that my new idea was much better. So needless to say the room is a mess and I can't get to anything pretty much. And for the next few weeks it's only gonna be worse lol.

So today I have a little card I made real quick. The sailboat and anchor are both from Life's A Beach and were cut with my expression 2. The circle and scalloped circle are both from Cricut Craft Room Basics and were also cut with the expression 2. I embossed the red circle with my Cuttlebug and the Swiss Dots folder. After I adhered all of the parts onto the circles I put the entire sailboat in the circle on a pop dot. I ran some red velvet ribbon around the card and over the velvet ribbon some burlap twine which goes around twice and has a cute little bow. I hand wrote the sentiment.

Big Boy Nautical Layout

The circle inside the life savor is the photo mat.

I used my cricut & Life is a beach to cut the life ring and waves (along with my gypsy). The title is cut from Boys will be boys. I tied the square knot with some hemp string and looped it through all the holes on the life savor. The paper was in my stash.

CWC #93 Happy Birthday USA

Happy 4th of July everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

This week our challenge over at CWC is Happy Birthday USA.. use Red, White & Blue!

4th of July is my absolute favorite Holiday.. it trumps every other holiday.. with Halloween following and then Christmas. I know weird right? How many people have the 4th of July as their fav holiday?! ME! Reason? Simple. I LOVE fireworks! I've been obsessed with fire since I can't even remember when. And in high school I fully intended on becoming a pyrotechnician... but of course... I didn't pay real good attention to my Chemistry class LOL! Anyway.. then I was gonna be a psychologist and finally a photographer.. (which I am).

ANYWAY..... on to my project.

I made this layout with a pic of Jayden.. shes 3 months old in this pic. And the hat shes wearing.. it was Adam's when he was a baby... (I LOVE that his mom saved so much stuff from his past.. I wish my mom hadn't lost all of my stuff in storage and moves oh well... both of my girls even slept in Adam's old bassinet.. I'm a sentimental fool lol!).

The dots around the pic in red white and blue are Scribbles 3d paint.

The anchors are cut from the Life's a Beach cart.

And both anchors have red bakers twine on them somewhere.

I hope you'll all head over to CWC and join us this week in our challenge!

1st TP Mini Album

This is my very first attempt at a toilet paper roll mini album... I think it turned out pretty good for a first time! I would have liked to done more pages but I only had 2 empty toilet paper rolls lol. If you don't know how to make one it's pretty simple. Basically you just get a toilet paper roll flatten it (I would have used my cuttlebug but I have NO idea where the plates are lol).. I used a bone folder.. I've seen online ppl use books and such to flatten them. Pick out paper, cover the roll and tuck into the inside so you can see any of the roll. Make tags to fit inside.. (mine are a little less than 4in x 2in approx.) and add embellishments. Punch holes (or in my case 1 hole, I could only find 1 binder ring) into one end of the toilet paper roll pages and close with binder ring.. add ribbon to the binder ring for looks. Pretty simple! I've seen other people use a bind it all or something similar to bind their toilet paper albums.. If I had a binding maching (I wish!) I probably would have done so also.

My entire album has embellishments from Pack Your Bags cart (1 is from Life's A Beach the whale on the front cover, and the ice cream is from Nifty Fifties). All of the stamped sentiments in the mini are from K Andrews Splashtastic Summer stamp set (you can purchase from her site HERE!), which I LOVE!

2 page beach layout

For todays challenge the SweetSassyDiva DT was asked to create a 2 page mini album layout (5 3/4 x 8 3/4) that had a beach theme.. we get extra credit for using the same colors as the color challenge (bright blue, neon green, hot pink, yellow, orange).

I used Life's A Beach to create my layouts.
For the first page I cut the green cardstock down to 6.5x4.5 for a photo mat for a 4x6 photo. I cut the title for the scuba diver (under the sea) at 2 inches in blue and then I used a blue chalk ink to make it a little darker than the background, since I used the same blue for both. The seahorse boarder is cut at 1 inch and I cut off one of the extra seahorses so that it fit correctly to the page. I adhered the photo mat and the seahorse boarder. And for the title I used blue glitter glue to cover just the words and the bubbles and I only adhered it at the bottom so that the picture could slide in the picture.
(1st page)
(close up of title)
For the 2nd page I got a tad more complicated. I cut out the seahorse from the card setting at 5 inches and cut off the back side of the card. I got a green piece of cardstock and cut it down to about 8 inches x 4 3/4 inches, folded it in half and dabbed some blue ink on the outside to give it a little color. I then adhered the seahorse cover to the front of the green folded paper and adhered the whole thing down (I plan to use it for journaling but it could easily fit a smaller pic & journaling). I added some blue glitter glue to the background like waves.. and pink glitter glue to the seahorse and sea grass on the card area as well as a google eye. The yellow octopus was cut at 2 inches and I cut out the orange at 2 inches also on layer 1. The eyes and mouth are scribbles 3d paint. The little pink shell on the inside of the card is 1 inch from the Create A Critter cart (I had a bunch left over from Jaydens b-day invites).

Scrapbook LO of Jayden 3mo Sailor

Last night Adam & I worked on Jayden's baby scrapbook a bit... We got one page done LOL... but Adam has another page started. This LO fits into a few challenges:

I had this paper in my stash from Michaels (got it in FL over a year ago), Used Life's A Beach to cut the waves and the octopus, and Create A Critter to cut the sun... (cut at aprox 8in). These photos are ones I took in my studio of Jayden for her 3 month old photo shoot. (There will be plenty more scrapbook layouts I do with these pics in the future so don't be surprised when you see them again lol. Since I do at the very least 1 shoot of her a month on her birthday.. we're doing multiple scrapbooks for her. This one is probably going in the main book (the main book is from when I found out I was pregnant to her 1st Birthday).. then theres gonna be a photo shoots book (that'll have a few pages of pics from each photo shoot we've done) and then another book that'll be B-day shoots (that'll only have her b-day shoots in it).. and then a couple of her vacations and trips... but the main book is just gonna be a summery of everything.. the other books will go into details a lot more.

Thanks for stoppin' by and have a great day!
