Ribbon Bookmark

Hey everyone,

today I'd like to share a ribbon bookmark.

For this project all you really need is ribbon, scissors, a button, an elastic hair tie, needle & thread (or a sewing machine), and hot glue & hot glue gun (optional).

I used 5/8" red wired satin ribbon and 11/2" navy blue mini stars wired ribbon.
This bookmark is such an easy project. If I hadn't hand stitched it probably would have only taken 15 mins. My hand stitching skills used to be decent, but I haven't hand stitched in quite awhile. My stitching was less than beautiful, so I hot glued red ribbon over it and it looks pretty good now!

Let me give you the easy steps real quick...
1. Cut ribbon to size (size depends on book... measure around and have a gap between the ends of about 2 - 3 inches.
2. place elastic band on one edge about an inch in and fold ribbon over the elastic.
3. stitch the end of the ribbon thats folded over the elastic making a loop out of the ribbon that traps the elastic in.
4. on the other end of the ribbon sew on a button. DONE!

(optional steps if you want to clean up the edges)

5. fold back the ribbon edge the button is on toward the inside and hot glue down.
6 wrap a different ribbon over the stitches from the elastic.

I hope you guys enjoy this project and give it a go yourself.

Big Sis layout

Hey everyone,

Today I'm sharing this "Big sis" layout of Jayden holding Harmony for the very first time ever just a couple hours after Harm was born. We're at the hospital. She was so excited to be a big sis.

All papers are imaginisce except the hot pink. I cut the hearts by hand and did some faux stitching around the edges in white gel pen and wrote the date in the bigger one and love in the smaller heart. I cut the title with my Silhouette cameo. All of the hearts are on pop dots. I used a boarder punch for the scalloped heart paper. The title is adhered with zig glue and everything else is ATG tape.

I'm entering this layout into the following challenges:
Clique Kits - Anything Goes
Stuck?! - Sketch

Splash Layout

I made this layout using the sketch from Sketches in Thyme #51.

I used the Pack Your Bags cart (definitely one of my favs!) to cut the title, the waves, the sun, and the circles that I wanted to look like bubbles (for these cuts I used Layer 1 of the boat steering wheel one). I outlined the title with a light blue gel pen and some of the waves too. I added some buttons (I love buttons and have a HUGE collection that I never use cuz I never want to give them up lol) for bubbles. I got the buttons to stay by using Terrifically Tacky Tape.. this stuff is the best!! It holds ANYTHING! I cut the frame out at 5.5 x 7.5 and then cut the inside at 4.75 x 6.75. Then I used my Sew Easy and some brown floss to stitch on the frame. This was my very first time actually stitching on a project and my first time using my Sew Easy.. which really is SO EASY! I can't even imagine how much time it saved me to have this awesome tool. The pic was a 5x7 and I had to cover some of it with the frame but I love how it turned out. You wouldn't believe it if I told you but I spent at least 2 hrs on this one layout.. Layouts take me forever but I love making them more than anything.. Im still working on my style thow.. so I love having sketches to work with. The journaling strips are cut at different lengths and heights.

And this is a pic of Adam snorkeling in John Pennekamp State Park in FL while on a little "Vacation".. Adam really got sent down to FL for work but we ended up basically getting a few weeks of vacation for free which was SOOOOOOO nice. I mean we went ALL over. We drove from IL (which was where we were living at the time) and saw tons of stuff on the way down and back.. and since we took our truck we were able to go anywhere we wanted so we drove all the way down to the Keys for this trip.. and actually ended up taking a ferry to the Dry Tortugas and camping ... super fun stuff!!

So Im entering this layout into the following challenges:
Sketches in Thyme - #51
Scrapbookaholic By Abby - #10
The Paper Variety - Tic Tac Toe (I was actually able to get 2 different lines in here lol: stitching, water theme, 1 pic layout, & journaling strips, buttons, 1 pic layout.. not bad!)
