Fast Advent
Hey everyone.. long time no type (lol). It's been a crazy last few weeks.. Disneyland and Palm Springs for 2 weeks (one week each) and now Christmas time. *sigh* life is crazy sometimes. Disney was overall pretty good.. we did have our bad experiences this trip, like always, but we had lots of good times too. Hopefully one of these nights I'll have a chance to fill you guys in with some of the great, good and not so good of our most recent vacation as well as some good pics! But for now I have a project..
I made Jayden her own advent calender last year (you can view it HERE) and I put some time and effort into it.. I was planning to make Harmony one this year too but a different style, of course. Well nobody saw this Disney trip coming (certainly not me.. I had joked about it with Adam but never ever thought we'd be going to a Disney park again since we just went to Disney World in June) and I just didn't have time to make one before we left. It wouldn't have made much sense anyway since we left home on Dec 1 and didn't get back until Dec 13.. so that's half the advent gone. Now even though I couldn't do a full blown advent for the girls I still wanted them to have an advent for the time we were here before Christmas.
So I made them this quick, simple and easy advent.. (2) one for each. I took a few sheets of maroon card stock and cut them into strips of 3x12.. then I cut them again into pieces of 3x6. Since by the time I got around to making them we only had 9 days left this fit perfectly into 3 12x12 sheets of card stock. After I had all my sheets cut into their pieces (18 in all) I put ATG tape on 3 sides of the rectangles leaving one of the 3inch sides blank. I adhered them together on the short side making a cylinder (similar looking to a toilet paper roll) and sealed up the bottom. Now I went a littler further than just candy.. I punched out some cirlces 3/4 inch and wrote little notes on each one of fun things to do and adhered them to the bottom of Hershey Kisses. Then I placed the kisses into each "sour cream" container and sealed the top folding the opposite direction of the bottom seal. After that was done I ran the edges through the paper crimper for decoration and a better seal.
Then I took some scraps of DCWV paper and used a scribbles 3d paint to write different numbers on the paper (which I cut into 1x1 squares) and I put the squares on the sour cream containers. After that I used my big bite to punch holes in the top of each container. I strung some kraft colored paper ribbon through the holes and put the garland of all the sour cream containers (in order by number) on some railings in our house and that was pretty much it.
I am entering these into the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp and Show - Gift-spiration
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Christmassy
More Than Favors - #78
Really Reasonable Ribbon - #62
Thanks for stoppin by and have a great day!
