Fast Advent

Hey everyone.. long time no type (lol). It's been a crazy last few weeks.. Disneyland and Palm Springs for 2 weeks (one week each) and now Christmas time. *sigh* life is crazy sometimes. Disney was overall pretty good.. we did have our bad experiences this trip, like always, but we had lots of good times too. Hopefully one of these nights I'll have a chance to fill you guys in with some of the great, good and not so good of our most recent vacation as well as some good pics! But for now I have a project..

I made Jayden her own advent calender last year (you can view it HERE) and I put some time and effort into it.. I was planning to make Harmony one this year too but a different style, of course. Well nobody saw this Disney trip coming (certainly not me.. I had joked about it with Adam but never ever thought we'd be going to a Disney park again since we just went to Disney World in June) and I just didn't have time to make one before we left. It wouldn't have made much sense anyway since we left home on Dec 1 and didn't get back until Dec 13.. so that's half the advent gone. Now even though I couldn't do a full blown advent for the girls I still wanted them to have an advent for the time we were here before Christmas.

So I made them this quick, simple and easy advent.. (2) one for each. I took a few sheets of maroon card stock and cut them into strips of 3x12.. then I cut them again into pieces of 3x6. Since by the time I got around to making them we only had 9 days left this fit perfectly into 3 12x12 sheets of card stock. After I had all my sheets cut into their pieces (18 in all) I put ATG tape on 3 sides of the rectangles leaving one of the 3inch sides blank. I adhered them together on the short side making a cylinder (similar looking to a toilet paper roll) and sealed up the bottom. Now I went a littler further than just candy.. I punched out some cirlces 3/4 inch and wrote little notes on each one of fun things to do and adhered them to the bottom of Hershey Kisses. Then I placed the kisses into each  "sour cream" container and sealed the top folding the opposite direction of the bottom seal. After that was done I ran the edges through the paper crimper for decoration and a better seal.

Then I took some scraps of DCWV paper and used a scribbles 3d paint to write different numbers on the paper (which I cut into 1x1 squares) and I put the squares on the sour cream containers. After that I used my big bite to punch holes in the top of each container. I strung some kraft colored paper ribbon through the holes and put the garland of all the sour cream containers (in order by number) on some railings in our house and that was pretty much it.

MyMemories Suite GIVEAWAY and review

Hey everyone.. ugh it seems like forever since I've been able to blog. Life gets crazy sometimes.. no exceptions here! :)

Today I have a giveaway for you guys (gals lol)! Details below...

I have had MyMemories Suite for awhile now.. and I personally love it! It's so fun and easy to use. Very user friendly and simple. It makes digital scrapbooking a breeze! I have used other software before (photoshop since I'm a photographer.. ) and when it comes to digital scrapbooking MyMemories Suite is so much more fast.

The best part about MyMemories Suite is simply... no mess! Don't feel like spending the time to clean up/ set up but still wanna be crafty.. this is perfect.

This is not only for scrapbooking.. but you can use this software to make calendars, and even your Christmas cards! In addition to those great things, I also love the variety available. There are so many wonderful kits in the MyMemories.com store. MyMemories often has great sales on their kits too. They share ideas and have contests on facebook (with prizes!) ;) Also check out their blog for more inspiration.

Now let me show you a few new layouts I've made with it.. just in a few hours I made all 3 of these layouts..

My lil Harmony last Dec.. :) how fast they grow can't believe it!! This will be her 2nd Christmas!

Speaking of growing my lil Jayden is growing like a weed.. she'll be 3 this Jan. This is one of (MANY of) my fav pics of her and her daddy :) Aren't they just adorable!

Here is another layout of Jayden and her daddy at the zoo! The hardest part about this layout was trying to decide which great embellishments I wanted to use.

You may notice that these have all sorts of fonts... another great feature is that you can use any of the fonts on your computer for text or even WordArt.

Ok.. enough of my telling you how great this program is, enter for a chance to win and decide for yourself!!!

How to enter:
Go to Mymemories.com and pick out a favorite kit! Come back here and leave a comment letting me know which is your fav by Thursday Nov 29, 2012 at 11:59PM PST. Please also leave a way for me to contact you in case you win.
You do not need to be a follower of mine to win this.. just do the above to be entered!

I'll pick a winner using Random.org on Friday Nov 30, 2012 and announce it here I will also email the winner (so again please leave a way to contact you)!

And if you can't wait to win.. go to MyMemories.com and use this coupon code: STMMMS63527 to get $10 off your purchase

Good luck everyone!

And here are a few more layouts I've made with MyMemories Suite.. one of which is my FAV!!

Jaydens tiny toes..

one of the MANY ultrasounds of baby Harmony...

And my all time FAVORITE!!! so cute! One of Harmony's maternity pics.. I was trying to go for.. (my guess/hope) Jayden's point of view.. I just love this so much! :)

Funniest thing.. all of these layouts only have one pic.. I don't normally do 1 pic layouts for paper or digital.. I guess these are just pics I wanted to showcase on their own.. there is absolutely no restrictions to how many images you can use with MyMemories Suite.

One last thing.. We leave for a vacation to SoCal on Saturday Dec 1.. (CANT WAIT!) and of course we'll be going to Disneyland since well honestly.. what else is there in Cali?! lol! We won't be back until Dec 13.. so there won't be many (if any) crafty posts during that time.

it's snowing layout

I made this super cute layout using some blue patterned paper for the background. I cut the title and all snow flakes out with my cricut and white card stock. I used Gypsy font, winter woodland, & pooh and friends. I cut all snowflakes in different sizes and stamped some with pks faces. I added stickles to some of the snowflakes and "snowing" I also added snow maker to some of the snowflakes.. it puffs up and looks like snow after heated. I put down 2 different photo mats and added Caribbean blue bakers twine over the mats.

Hey everyone I made this layout using the Sesame Street Seasons cartridge for the tree, Wild Card for the leaves, and Gypsy Wanderings for the title.

The photo mats are orange textured card stock and the background is yellow plaid patterned paper. The tree is cut from brown textured card stock and all the leaves are from red, brown, orange and 2 different yellow patterned papers.

For the title I cut the shadow in dark orange.. and the main title in orange glitter paper. After I adhered the title to the main page I went around the edges with a gold gel pen.

My Cricut Craft Room scrapbook fri - pumpkins

Today is My Cricut Craft Room Scrapbook Friday and the theme was to make a fall page. Well when I think of fall sure I think of leaves, and rain, and cold (all things I love!), but I also think of the pumpkin patch.. which is one of my favorite things to do in the fall aside from halloween and everything else fall and fun lol.

So for my layout I used a few different carts.. the title is cut from Mini Monsters, the set of 3 pumpkins is from Holiday Cakes, and the bottom corner pumpkin is from Disney Princesses Happily Ever After.

Most of the paper is DCWV fall/halloween stacks. The photo mats are greenish blue card stock. I added a journaling tag from kraft and ripped it up a bit. At the top I cut a strip of different brown from the same paper line and used scalloped scissors, then I added some pen work in gold and white to help make it more visible.

To check out all other DT projects today please go to My Cricut Craft Room.

Thanks for stoppin' by and have a great day!

Disney Blog Hop for Rett Syndrome Awareness

Welcome to the First Annual Blog Hop for...

Rett Syndrome Awareness

Your first stop should have been at Robin Lane's Blog, if you did not start there please go back to the beginning...

What is Rett Syndrome? Rett Syndrome is a devastating neurologic developmental disorder that occurs almost exclusively in girls. It is usually caused by a mutation of the MECP2 gene on the X chromosome. Rett Syndrome is found in all racial and ethnic groups throughout the world, and in every socioeconomic class. Rett Syndrome affects 1 in 15,000 female births.

Early developmental milestones appear normal, but between 6-18 months of age, there is a delay or regression in development, particularly affecting speech, hand skills and coordination. A hallmark of Rett Syndrome is the repetitive hand movements that may include seizures, irregular breathing, swallowing difficulties, and curvature of the spine. Many individuals with Rett Syndrome live well into adulthood.
There is currently no cure.

We will have two lucky winners from this weekends blog hop.
You must be a follower of... http://create-a-latte.blogspot.com/
and
Leave a comment on each of the blogs to be entered to win one of the prizes.

Prize One is a Disney Princess Scrapbook Kit, and a few Goodies from the International Rett Syndrome Foundation, a bracelet, a pen, and a car magnet.
Prize Two is a Disney Theme Park Scrapbook Kit, and a few Goodies from the International Rett Syndrome Foundation, a bracelet, a pen, and a car magnet.
Along with the prizes I will be making two $5 donations to the Inernational Rett Syndrome Foundation in each of the winners names in honor of my Daughter.

You should have started at Robin's blog if not please go back and start at the beginning so you don't miss any of the great projects!

For my project today I made some shirts...

I used the Pooh Font Cricut cart to cut out the L, V and E in pink glitter heat transfer vinyl. I used Mickey & Friends Cricut cart to cut the Mickey head out of blue glitter heat transfer vinyl. After all the pieces were cut I placed them where I wanted them on some white shirts I got from babies r us and used my iron to iron the pieces onto the shirt following the directions on the package for the vinyl (tulip brand which I found at Michaels on clearance for $3 originally $15 it had 4 colors of glitter vinyl in it). The idea is that the Mickey head is to be the "o" in LOVE.. :) (I did the opposite for my shirt (blue LVE and pink Mickey head) I don't have a pic of Jayden's cuz she tore it apart before I got one... I have some of just the shirts right after they were made but I'm having trouble locating them.

Fairly simple, yet very cute and affordable way to make a custom piece of clothing especially for something like a trip to Disneyland!

Your next stop on the hop is Melissa's blog!

My Cricut Craft Room WYEGW - disney anniversary card

Today is My Cricut Craft Room WYEGW! Ever thought to use your markers or gel pens instead of blade with your Cricut? Let me tell you it's so much easier when you have a detailed cut similar to this Disney cut... I mean we all know how tiring it is to find all the lil piece and stick them down without losing them.

This is a card I made using my blue Cricut Marker and Disney Princesses Happily Ever After. This was also the very first time I'd tried this and it turned out great! I put blue card stock into the cricut like normal and cut with the marker then I cut out the piece with a paper trimmer how I wanted it to look. I layered it on top of orange card stock I embossed with my Cuttlebug and divine swirls folder. I inked the orange with orange ink to help it stand out. I punched some holes thru the bottom of the white card and threaded a sheer blue ribbon through. Once it was all adhered together I added blue stickles to cinderella's dress, gloves, necklace, and headband... and orange stickles to prince charming's shoes, belt, fringy shoulder thingys (LOL), and hair. I also added 3 dots of stickles opposite order around the edges of the blue card stock.

The inside was this which is the scroll map from Life's A Party. I inked the edges and the cut marks with brown to make it look a lil aged and so you could see the lines. I added a lil heart with arrows at the bottom with a zig marker.

I gave this card to my husband for our 4th anniversary. Our wedding colors were orange and blue... orange his fav color (why the prince's glitter is orange), and blue my fav color (why cinderella's is blue glitter). And of course he proposed at Disneyland in front of the castle, and we went to Disney World for part of our Honeymoon so I had to do a disney card.. especially since our wedding invites were Cinderella themed. :) I love me some Disney... did I tell you guys he bought us tickets a couple weeks ago to take me and the girls as well as 3 of my cousins to Disneyland this December?!!!! I can't believe it, I've been wanting to see Disneyland in the Christmas lights for forever!! :) he's the best. And he's taking my lil girl cousins (not so lil at 14, 16 & 17) with us and pretty much paying for the whole thing he's so generous! They're all really excited because they never expected to go let alone for him to take them now.

MCCR Theme Day Thursday - Football Birthday

It's Theme Day Thursday over at My Cricut Craft Room and the theme today is birthday!

I made this card for my big brother.. he loves football and his fav color is red.

To make this card I used the Life is A Party cart. The card is a red card base.. with a red patterned paper on top & I inked the edges of the pattern paper with brown ink. I tied some red bakers twine around the bottom of the patterned paper.

The inside has a stamped present in brown and brown ink around the edges.

    Chocolate Coffee Bean Treat Bag

Today I have this treat bag that I made and put chocolate covered coffee beans in.

I used Birthday Cakes cricut cart to cut the cup from pink card stock. I covered one in pink stickles and the other I just outlined with the pink stickles and filled in the heart. I cut out the yellow stripped paper to fit the bag (a little larger) and made it about 2 inches tall once folded so it was cut at about.. 4 x 5.5 or so. I folded and then used the punch on the bottom (the name escapes me at the moment). I stamped with My Craft Spot stamps (inside & out 2) in brown ink.

On one side I put brown ribbon on the bottom and pleated.

On the other side I ran the ribbon across the same place but added a bow.

    Wicked Layout

Ok everyone check out this awesome (well i think so anyway) ;) layout I made. It's for a pic of Wicked which my wonderful SIL asked me to go to with her (my bro bought her the tickets for her birthday cause she's been wanting to see it for .. well forever lol). I'm so glad I went.. to repay her I took her and my best friend to see Jersey boys which was also amazing!! So we've decided to make it "our thing" a girl thing usually like a girls night out away from the husbands and kids.. and with our friend from high school (my best friend Lindsey) we're all planning to go see the Addams family next which isnt until spring 2013 :( oh well lol it'll be fun... and my husband has actually agreed to join us for that one since I call his family "the Adam's family" lol.

I used all DCWV papers for this layout. All cuts are from A Frightful Affair. I used the sketch for the DCWV challenge this month.

Cut different sized strips of different papers and a photo mat from the same paper as the background and tied some embroidery floss around the bottom (purple and white).
I added stickles all over the place..  around the witch in the top right...

... around the pic mat.. the lightning bolt in "Wicked" the witch hat at the bottom and the witch hat in "witches".

I also added some Orange irock gems some on the journaling tag and 1 as a bubble from the cauldron in the left. Theres a bright green button on the bottom left of the journaling mat and the witch shoes are actually a button thing from my huge button collection.

My Cricut Craft Room Angel Card

It's Card Creating Tuesday at My Cricut Craft Room with a Guardian Angel theme.
To make this angel card I used A Quilted Christmas.

I cut the angel in hot pin card stock and put it over pink stripped paper. I punched down the side of the white card base with a boarder punch and added irock gems along the boarder and also in the middle of the snowflake on the angel. I used some of the punch outs from the angel to embellish the corners a little. I also added a light pink bow to the bottom.

MCCR WYEGW Create a Critter pg 25 - Harmony's bday card

My Cricut Craft Room Would You Ever Guess Wednesday.. today we're to make a project using page 25 of Create A Critter.. thats the page with the owl and apple.

I made this super cute birthday Card for my now 1 year old Harmony.. she had a forest theme party. I cut the owl base in black, and the top in pink. I inked the wings and tummy of the owl white (so it looks more like gray) and left the ears black. I added large google eyes. I have a white base, with a brown layer, then i purple gingham layer that has a "1" cut out (using Cindy Loo). Inside the "1" I stamped "happy brithday" over and over in light pink ink and then outlined the "1" with a pink glaze pen. Then I stamped "happy birthday" again with a different stamp in dark brown"

The owl is on pop dots. and I added some green bakers twine to the bottom and a little bow.

The inside has the same purple gingham and then a pink layer with a pink owl stamped in the bottom corner.

My Cricut Craft Room Theme Day Thursday - Halloween invites

The My Cricut Craft Room Theme Day Thursday's theme was to make invites or party decor for a Halloween party. I made a set of invites. Also, we're now pink if you didn't already know... that means to support breast cancer awareness we're all making projects that have pink somewhere on them.

I used Create A Critter 2 to make my invites. I cut the little skull that's part of the pirate hat of the ghost. I cut it at about 2 inches or so (i used my gypsy so i'm not 100 % on the size).

I cut card bases out of black and they're smaller 4 x 3 (or so when folded) and 4x6 when unfolded. On the black cards I held the skull on the card and inked onto the card with light pink ink (it turned out more on the white side though). And I did the same for the pink but used black ink. the pink is cut at about 3.5 x 2.5 and then placed on the black base. I used a clear stamp from a Recollections party set to stamp "you're invited!" on the cards. I placed it down the side of the black card and along the bottom of the pink.

To view all the other DT's Halloween party projects please go visit My Cricut Craft Room and check em out.
