Disney Blog Hop for Rett Syndrome Awareness

Welcome to the First Annual Blog Hop for...

Rett Syndrome Awareness

Your first stop should have been at Robin Lane's Blog, if you did not start there please go back to the beginning...

What is Rett Syndrome? Rett Syndrome is a devastating neurologic developmental disorder that occurs almost exclusively in girls. It is usually caused by a mutation of the MECP2 gene on the X chromosome. Rett Syndrome is found in all racial and ethnic groups throughout the world, and in every socioeconomic class. Rett Syndrome affects 1 in 15,000 female births.

Early developmental milestones appear normal, but between 6-18 months of age, there is a delay or regression in development, particularly affecting speech, hand skills and coordination. A hallmark of Rett Syndrome is the repetitive hand movements that may include seizures, irregular breathing, swallowing difficulties, and curvature of the spine. Many individuals with Rett Syndrome live well into adulthood.
There is currently no cure.

You should have started at Robin's blog if not please go back and start at the beginning so you don't miss any of the great projects!

For my project today I made some shirts...

I used the Pooh Font Cricut cart to cut out the L, V and E in pink glitter heat transfer vinyl. I used Mickey & Friends Cricut cart to cut the Mickey head out of blue glitter heat transfer vinyl. After all the pieces were cut I placed them where I wanted them on some white shirts I got from babies r us and used my iron to iron the pieces onto the shirt following the directions on the package for the vinyl (tulip brand which I found at Michaels on clearance for $3 originally $15 it had 4 colors of glitter vinyl in it). The idea is that the Mickey head is to be the "o" in LOVE.. :) (I did the opposite for my shirt (blue LVE and pink Mickey head) I don't have a pic of Jayden's cuz she tore it apart before I got one... I have some of just the shirts right after they were made but I'm having trouble locating them.

Fairly simple, yet very cute and affordable way to make a custom piece of clothing especially for something like a trip to Disneyland!

Your next stop on the hop is Melissa's blog!
